Surf Theory & Ocean Safety
The Surfer’s Mindset

THEORY & CONDITIONS

Decoding the Arabian Sea

To be a surfer is to be an amateur meteorologist. This page is dedicated to the “Why” behind the waves.

You will learn how to read a Goa tide table and understand how the sandbars of North Goa shift after the monsoon. We break down the science of swell direction and wind speed (Offshore vs. Onshore).

Understanding these variables allows you to predict when the waves will be “clean” or “blown out,” saving you hours of wasted time on the beach.

SAFETY & ETIQUETTE

Survival & Stewardship

Ocean safety is the most critical skill you can own. We provide deep-dives into identifying Rip Currents—the “conveyor belts” of the ocean—and how to use them to your advantage or escape them safely.

We cover “Surf Etiquette” to prevent collisions and foster respect in the lineup, including the “Right of Way” rules.

This section isn’t just about survival; it’s about becoming a guardian of the ocean, learning how to spot distressed swimmers and understanding the local ecosystem you are now a part of.
